I Made Self-Care a Priority, and My Business Thrived
As a business owner, it’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind. There’s always work to do, emails to respond to, and money to make. After two years of full-time entrepreneurship, I was exhausted in every sense of the word. I was of the mindset: “If I don’t work, I don’t eat.” With that way of thinking, my mental, physical, and emotional health suffered, and it began impacting my business. That’s when I realized that I needed to make a change. In 2023, I decided to prioritize my self-care over my business, and it was the best decision I ever made.
Before prioritizing self-care, I worked long hours, often sitting at my desk for 12+ hours daily. I thought that was the only way to get things done. However, focusing on my well-being has taught me that it’s not about the number of hours you work but the quality of those hours. By prioritizing self-care, I worked more efficiently and got more done in less time. I take breaks every hour to stretch or move my body, which helps me stay focused and energized. As a result, I’ve increased my productivity.
And let me tell you about decision-making being in shambles and you not even realizing it. It’s hard to make good decisions when you are stressed and exhausted. I am not saying the ones I made were bad; I feel they could have been better. But when prioritizing self-care, I gave my brain…
